Ultra Education x Stowe School: Empowering Young Minds through Partnership

At Ultra Education, we believe in the transformative power of partnerships to create life-changing opportunities for young people. Our collaboration with Stowe School exemplifies this belief. Through our outreach to parents and families, we have facilitated remarkable success stories, such as that of Satis Johnson-Greene, who successfully applied for and was offered a boarding space at Stowe School.

The Power of Bursaries

The Change 100 Bursary is a pivotal initiative that provides a means for changing the lives of talented and deserving children. This programme ensures that finances are not a barrier for children who have the potential to thrive with an education at Stowe. Change 100 is the first step in a mission that will ultimately make Stowe an institution where, although there will always be fees for those who can afford them, talented children will have access to this prestigious education regardless of their financial circumstances.

Opportunities for Our Young People

Stowe School’s Change 100 Bursary offers more than just financial support; it opens doors to a world of opportunities. By receiving this bursary, young people gain access to an exceptional education, a nurturing environment, and a wealth of extracurricular activities that foster personal growth and academic excellence. This transformative effect empowers children to transcend their circumstances and be defined by their talent and ambition.

The Power of Partnership

Our partnership with Stowe School is rooted in the shared vision of empowering young minds. Stowe reached out to us because of our work with children and families, recognising the potential within our community. They sought to raise awareness about this opportunity and engage directly with our families. This collaboration allowed us to organise an onsite visit, providing parents with the chance to ask questions and understand how to access this life-changing opportunity.

During the visit, parents were able to explore the school, meet the faculty, and gain a comprehensive understanding of the bursary programme. This proactive approach ensures that families are well-informed and prepared to support their children’s educational journey at Stowe.

A Story of Success: Satis Johnson-Greene

Jan de Gale, Change 100 Leadership Coach, shares:

“Satis Johnson-Greene is a Stowe School Change 100 Bursary award holder and joined the Lower Sixth Form year group in September 2022. It has been a delight to watch Satis make the very most of this life-enhancing opportunity, flourishing and excelling in several areas across Stowe School life.”

“It would be fair to say that Change 100 is having a profound and positive impact on the lives of deserving young people – tomorrow’s Change Makers and Stowe are very proud of Satis. With an insatiable desire for learning and discovery, she has proactively and conscientiously made the most of her Change 100 Bursary opportunity to enhance her talent. A modest and understated young woman, Satis is not to be underestimated. She demonstrates a great passion for Chemistry and an outstanding level of independent drive and commitment which will set her up well for a university course in this subject. She is also an outstanding art student whose intellectual and visual investigation of the theme ‘The Chemistry of Art’ far exceeds that of any normal art student. Bridging art and science in such a direct manner is not always achieved successfully; however, Satis makes full use of her scientific knowledge, coupled with her artistic ability, going above and beyond what is expected.”

Celebrating Achievements

Jan de Gale continues:

“Over the course of her U6th year, Satis has successfully taken part in several events including the Stowe Maths Competition (Change Maker STEM Project Prize, where she was a finalist). An outstanding percussionist, she was selected to participate in the Winter Ensembles Concert, the G30 (Heads from leading Schools around the world) Concert, and she came joint second in the hotly contested Mozart Trio (Stowe advanced solo musicians) competition, judged by an external adjudicator. Satis is also our principal percussionist in the Symphony Orchestra. As a reflection of her wonderful musical talent and contribution, she has been awarded the Music prize as our most outstanding percussionist at Speech Day, and to add to this, her artistic talent has been rewarded with the Richard McDougall Prize for Art – most impressive achievements!”

“Satis is currently taking her A’ Levels and is hoping to take up her offer to read Chemistry at Imperial College. All of the Stowe community wish Satis every success in the next chapter of her life and we will follow her progress with keen interest and affection.”

Conclusion

Our partnership with Stowe School has been a beacon of hope and opportunity for many young people. The Change 100 Bursary is a powerful tool for changing lives and creating future change makers. We are proud to be part of this initiative and look forward to many more success stories in the future.

We thank Stowe School for their unwavering support and commitment to nurturing young talent. Together, we are shaping the future, one success story at a time.
