This summer, a pair of teenagers from Brent set out to challenge negative stereotypes surrounding young people in London, and they did it through football.
What began at the Ultra Education 2024 Youth Business Fair soon evolved into a real-world event with community-wide impact.
At just 19 years old, Cameron Jackson and Tyler Cook, founders of Intent, a youth-led football coaching programme, brought their vision to life. They organised a football tournament for 16–21-year-olds at Silver Jubilee Park Stadium, home to Hendon FC. The event gathered 80 players and nearly 200 spectators.
A Community Behind Their Vision
This tournament stood out not just for the sport, but for the unity it inspired.
Cameron and Tyler led the entire planning process, with support from the stadium’s owner, Rob Morris, their families, and a young sponsor who believed in their goals. A £500 cash prize boosted the excitement. The crowd was diverse – from four-year-olds to grandparents, all cheering from the sidelines.
Even an international football scout attended and left impressed by the quality of play.
Young Entrepreneurs, Young Talent
The day wasn’t just about football. It was also a showcase of young entrepreneurial talent.
GAP Kitchen and Kiki Kitchen, both run by young business owners, provided food for players and spectators. Meanwhile, a team of young photographers and media creators captured the energy and atmosphere throughout the event.
Real Impact, Real Change
This wasn’t just a tournament – it was a powerful example of youth-led community action. It showed what can happen when young people receive support, encouragement, and the tools to lead.
The tournament also marked the official launch of Intent Football Coaching Club, and the community response has been overwhelmingly positive.
What’s Next for Intent?
Cameron and Tyler are now preparing for their autumn coaching programmes. They’ll offer 1-to-1 and small group sessions for players aged 5 to 21.
This is exactly the kind of impact Ultra Education strives to create: helping young people turn ideas into action, passions into businesses, and voices into real change.
