News Just In: Superstars are Made in Brent!

Pic 1. Marcus Founder of MJs Treats
Pic 2. England and Man City Striker Raheem Sterling

What do the two have in common? Well a few things…

1. Both have Caribbean heritage
2. Both male
3. Both raised in Brent

Now what if we told you that based on these 3 factors they have in common, Marcus and Raheem are statistically supposed to underachieve and struggle as adults? This is the case for black Caribbean boys in Brent.

Well, as we can see from Sterling’s stellar performances for England and Man City, that’s far from the case and MJ Treats at only 9 years old has already started his own business and been featured by Virgin Media

It’s for this reason that Team Ultra are so passionate about the It Takes a Village project we are delivering with Brent Council.

Ultra Education founder Julian ‘The Ultrapreneur’ Hall was born and raised in Brent and is a multi-award winning entrepreneur, has published several books, spoken all over the world and continues to drive Ultra forward helping thousands of young people to start their own business.

Ultra Education CIC is offering parents, schools and local community organisations an 18-month programme called IT TAKES A VILLAGE to empower Black Caribbean Boys in Brent to boost their educational attainment, confidence, and life skills.

Not every black Caribbean boy is going to be the next sterling or @theultrapreur but we believe in teaching them about entrepreneurship and empowering them with vital skills we can widen their aspirations, unlock their potential and drive real change with this demographic.
